A mole can do so much damage in such a short amount of time.
As you can tell the dirt looks dark, fresh and soft. Typically this will tell you that there is an active mole in your yard.
Mole mounds are created by the mole when he has lots of dirt to push out of his way when creating new tunnels. The easiest way to remove mounds is to take a shovel and throw dirt off to the side, allowing it to settle into the grass/yard after a rain. Some like to gather the nice fresh dirt in a bucket for fill.

This is a very young mole. When you compare to previous moles their body is about half the size of an adult mole.
